Galavanting governor takes woke European trip on Arkansans’ dime
Sarah Sanders has been talking a lot about tourism lately, which makes sense for someone who took the whole family on a trip to Europe and spent our tax dollars on at woke EuroDisney. She’s an expert on tourism, if we do say so ourselves.
It’s impossible to overstate the hypocrisy of this administration.
Sanders is currently embroiled in a messaging war with Matt Campbell of Blue Hog Report. The short version of the story is Campbell requested some documents peeking into finances, flight records, and general goings on of the administration.
Sanders was so scared about revealing her trip that she called an extraordinary session and lined up her little GOP legislator ducklings to do her bidding.
The main purpose of the session was clearly to roll back the law that protects Arkansans’ access to government information— the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Under the ridiculous guise of her own “security,” Sanders put forward a bill that would absolutely eviscerate FOIA. The original bill included several sections with not a whisper of her security needs, just broad exceptions to the parts of the law that require the executive branch to tell Arkansans how they’re spending our money. It was almost like she had something to hide.
After a week of Arkansans from the far right, far left, and right down the middle all coming together to give her the proverbial middle finger, Sanders tucked her tail, caved, and scaled back the bill to be “narrowly” focused on security.
It’s still a bad bill, and it still allows Sanders to hide damning records, like woke Disney trips, from the public.
Meanwhile, Campbell is slowly dripping out some… interesting information he obtained via FOIA requests, and it’s proving the theory that Sanders called this session simply because she has plenty to hide and is terrified of citizens holding her accountable.
Sanders recently promised to “continue to grow our tourism economy.” Maybe she should start by using our tax dollars in ways that benefit someone besides her own family and their woke European vacations.
