Kendon, why are you so obsessed with Fayetteville?
State Rep. Kendon Underwood, a republican from Cave Springs, tried to make a mountain out of a molehill when he falsely claimed that Fayetteville was operating as a sanctuary city in violation of state law.
The horror! A city daring to prioritize public safety over political theater! Rep. Underwood’s district is about 100 miles from Fayetteville, but he’s suddenly developed a keen interest in local police protocol in a city he doesn’t represent. He’s not the only one, either. Plenty of other Northwest Arkansas legislators are obsessed with trying to own the libs in Fayetteville. We’re looking at you, Clint Penzo, Brit McKenzie, and Josh Bryant.

Underwood wants to play border patrol from the comfort of Cave Springs. Never mind that local police have enough to do without being drafted into the federal immigration dragnet. It’s not about safety, folks. It’s about scoring political points by targeting a city that doesn’t bend the knee. The only thing Fayetteville is guilty of is refusing to be bullied by MAGA legislators.
Kendon is wasting the attorney general’s time and ignoring the constituents he’s actually supposed to represent. With his focus squarely on Fayetteville, we have to assume the city is asking: “Why are you so obsessed with me?”
