Senator Terry Rice ready to TWERK IT!
Yes, really. He said they would “twerk it.” TWICE.
What’s more fantastic than a stuffy old white dude from Waldron saying “If we need to twerk it, we’ll twerk it” from the floor of the Arkansas Senate? Not much, honestly.
Everything is terrible right now in Arkansas but at least we have Senator Rice confusing the word “tweak” with “twerk.”
The Arkansas Times reported on the wild moment:
So the Senate today passed a bill that would end the requirement that businesses who want to hire children under the age of 16 have to get a simple certificate from the state Division of Labor. For opponents of the bill, this is a basic protection against the exploitation of child labor. For many Republicans, it represented government overreach (which they’re against except when it comes to cultural issues). There was endless bloviating by old Repubs about how they started milking cows at 10 and how the youth of today are wastrels who play video games. It was very tedious. So I was thrilled, when at the end of Sen. Terry Rice’s testimony, in the context of talking about existing child labor protection, he said, “If we need to twerk it, we’ll twerk it!”
GET IT, TERRY.
