SHS appoints professional grifter and utility novice to rubber stamp big energy regulations
Gov. Sanders announced the appointment of the former chair of the Republican Party of Arkansas, Doyle Webb, to head the state’s Public Service Commission. The Commission is a regulatory body charged with ensuring big energy companies don’t rip off consumers. A quick google search will tell you Webb has zero experience in the energy sector. He is, however, quite experienced in partisan politics. Not only is he the former head of the RPA, but was also an overtly partisan hire for the state’s redistricting commission.
Why would Sanders hire a known political grifter and utility novice to lead an important state commission? There are two possible answers: either the governor has no idea what she is doing, or there are plans to cook something up with big utility that would ultimately screw over Arkansas consumers. Our money is on the latter.
