Tim Griffin Mansplains Women’s Health
Tim Griffin is here to rescue women from deceptive marketing, apparently. The AG issued a stern cease and desist order to two organizations: Choices Women’s Medical Center from New York and Aid Access of the Netherlands.
Their crime? Daring to provide information and access to abortion pills to Arkansans.
Griffin’s press release, which could double as a script for a 1950s PSA, ways he’s valiantly enforcing the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (ADTPA). Ah yes, the “deceptive trade” of providing women with the means to control their own bodies. Clearly Griffin knows best when it comes to women’s health!
“Abortions are prohibited in Arkansas except under very limited circumstances,” Griffin reminds us. And by “limited,” he means virtually nonexistent.
“Abortion pills may not be legally shipped to Arkansans or brought into the State for use by Arkansans.” So ensuring women cannot access safe medication is in their best interest. Got it.
Forget medical advice, what women really need is a man in a suit to tell them what’s good for them.
The suit’s solution? Threaten lawsuits and hefty fines of $10,000 per violation. We love when the state protects us by intimidating healthcare providers.
Griffin’s missive gives these organizations a generous 14 days to comply.
In a state where women are just begging for a man to step in and take charge of their reproductive choices, Griffin is there, saving us from the scourge of self-determination.
