SHS asks kids in Wynne what they admire most about her

Sanders greeted children returning to school after the tornado by asking them to list their favorite of her accomplishments.

Students returning to Wynne Intermediate School this morning got an incredible surprise — the governor was there to greet them after a tornado devastated their community. As Tylisa Hampton reports, parents and kids were elated to get back to school after a tough couple of weeks.

Families and students were also surprised when Governor Sanders greeted each returning child by asking them, “What is an accomplishment of mine that you admire the most?”

Most of those to whom the governor posed the question smiled awkwardly and quickly pivoted to expressions of gratitude to be back in school. One student asked the governor if responding to her question was a requirement to return to the classroom.

Relatedly, SHS and her office were under fire earlier this week when a former GOP legislator tweeted that an application to serve on one of the state’s boards or commission also requires applicants to respond to the question,“What is an accomplishment of mine that you admire the most?”

We hope students at Wynne Intermediate School supply appropriate answers so they can return to the classroom and get back to some normalcy.
